E-Elements Technology Promotes Semiconductor Talent Cultivation in Academia - Over a Hundred Participants Respond to the 2021 Xilinx Edge AI Online Workshop

Taipei, Taiwan – The “2021 Xilinx Edge AI Workshop,” an annual event held by E-Elements Technology for academic exchanges between various education institutions, moved to online event at the end of August due to the Covid pandemic. By October, five universities had already engaged in the workshop — with hundreds of faculties and students from the semiconductor and information majors participating.

E-Elements is a Xilinx’s Authorized Training Provider (ATP) for the Greater China region. Over the years, it has provided advanced FPGA system design, training, technical consulting, and university laboratory equipment. The comprehensive educational and training services in Taiwan aim to cultivate outstanding talent of integrated circuit design for the local industry.

E-Elements Technology’s online Workshop series, focused on Xilinx FPGA’s Edge AI technology this year, covered how to implement AI chips for edge devices and their related software and hardware solutions. The workshop introduced the latest AI development kit, PYNQ-ZU, as the learning vehicle, to cover the application segments of smart manufacturing, smart healthcare, wireless communications, financial technology, and other fields. National Chung Hsing University, National Sun Yat-sen University, National Taiwan University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and National Chung Cheng University participated in the workshop series. The technology associated with PYNQ-ZU sparked enthusiastic discussions and received encouraging feedback, maximizing the benefits of the exchange in each workshop event.

Yong-Kang Lai, Director of the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Chung Hsing University, expressed appreciation for the Xilinx Edge AI Workshop, stating, “We are deeply grateful to E-Elements Technology for its innovation in technology and solutions but also for its relentless efforts in promoting talent development and industry-academia cooperation”. Yong-Kang further emphasized, “This allows both professors and students to access the latest industry information and helps students transition seamlessly into the workplace.”
